Jack Cook Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack L. Cook, who left us at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 18, 2024. Born on October 22,1941, at Cable Hospital to the late Leonard and Bertha Cook, Jack was a proud lifelong resident of Rowley and a beloved member of the community.
Jack was the loving patriarch of the Cook family, a role he cherished deeply. His life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-three years, Linda; and their children, son, Michael Cook and his wife Linda of Rowley, daughter, Suellen Desjardins and her husband, Kevin of Salisbury, and sister, Donna Toto of Methuen, and by his eight grandchildren, Stephanie Cook, Tiffany Cook, Michelle Mycko, Amanda Perry, Ashleigh Cook, Michael Cook, Matthew Desjardins and Jack Cook III. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Following in his parents footsteps, Jack took over the familys iconic "Cooks Package Store", becoming a well-known and respected business owner. Jack also owned Cooks Rubbish and was proud to pass down his legacy to his grandson, Michael. His commitment to Rowley extended beyond business, as he served as the Cemetery Commissioner for over forty years and was on the Board of Selectmen for three terms. He was also the Water Board Commissioner, on the Housing Authority and a Clam Commissioner. Jack was always striving to improve the town he loved. He will also be remembered as Rowleys Fire Captain, emulating his grandfathers career as Rowleys first Fire Chief. Jacks life was filled with passion and excitement, reflected in many hobbies and interests. He was a horse racing enthusiast, he not only enjoyed watching races but also owned several racehorses, sharing and spreading his love of the sport with friends and family, especially with his son, Mike. Jack was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed NASCAR.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as well as seeing his Red pickup truck driving around the town. His legacy of service and love for the Town will continue to inspire future generations.
