Jack CRAVENS Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shadel's Colonial Chapel - Lebanon on Sep. 24, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Jackie "Jack" Ray Cravens, son of Samuel and Ola Agnes (Claxton) Cravens, was born February 5, 1932, near Hartville, Missouri and departed this life to enter his Heavenly home, on September 23, 2025, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years.

Jack graduated from Hartville High School. Later he joined the United States Air Force. He was a Remington Raider at Sampson Air Force Base in New York until his honorable discharge in January of 1955, as a Staff Sergeant, after four years of service.

On April 15, 1953, Jack was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patty Lou Harlamert. Into this union two daughters were born, Lessa and Cindy. Together Jack and Patty shared many years of laughter and cherished memories, prior to her passing in 2021.

Jack made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age. At the time of his passing, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith. For many years, he was the song leader at Pleasant Grove (Cope) Free Will Baptist Church, with Patty accompanying him on the piano. He appreciated the love, support and continued prayers from his church families over the years.

Jack was a lifetime farmer. Over the years, he milked, raised dairy and beef cattle and also harvested various field crops. He worked from sun up to sun down completing the tasks of the farm. He was most certainly, according to his daughters, the "Jack of all trades."

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing and quail hunting. Most recently, he thoroughly enjoyed his mornings spent having coffee with friends at Hardee's and finishing his afternoons playing pool at the Hughes Senior Center. He considered the Senior Center his home away from home. They were his second family.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Lessa Lawson and her husband Lee of O'Fallon, MO and Cindy Stica and her husband Randy of Republic, MO; four grandchildren, Zack Stica and his wife Christina, Caleb Stica and his partner Allen Broad, Amelia Clark and her husband Alex and Sarah Mitchell and her husband Brandan; six great-grandchildren, Maryola, Jackariah and Coryanna Stica , Anthony and Ainsley Clark and Hastings Seal; two brothers, Larry Cravens and his wife Nancy of Lebanon, MO and Jerry Cravens and his wife Kathy of Belton, MO; two sisters, Linda Blankenship and her husband Glen of Mountain Grove, MO and Sue Hensley of Hartville, MO; several nieces and nephews; many cousins; other relatives and countless friends.

Those preceding him in death include his parents; his wife in 2021; one brother, Gene Cravens; and two sisters, Wanda Cope and Wilda Peterman.

Those who knew Jack will forever cherish the memories they shared together. He will be deeply missed until we meet again.

Visitation for Jack will begin at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, until departure for the cemetery.

Graveside Service will begin at 2:30 P.M., also on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at New Home Cemetery in Wright County.
