Jack Dalgleish, age 74, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, passed away on August 11, 2024. He was born on January 21, 1950, in Lapeer. Jack graduated from Imlay City High School. He loyally served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a chemical specialist. When he returned home, he was employed with General Motors at Pontiac Motors and then the Milford Proving Grounds. He retired after 30 years.
Jack enjoyed camping at Old Orchard Campground in Oscoda, and kindly earned the nickname of Mayor of the campground. He always made time for trips with his buddies to go to deer camp, hunting, and fishing. Jack will be remembered for being a hard worker, his integrity, and dedication.
Jack is survived by his three sons Robert James (Julie Castillo) Dalgleish of California, Brian Lee Dalgleish of Lake Orion, and Barry Neil Dalgleish II of Lake Orion; granddaughter Avianna Castillo; sisters Lorri (Dan) Betts, Kathleen Joseph, and sister-in-law Judy Dalgleish; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 45 years in 2018, Joan Lynn Dalgleish; parents Clarence and Esther Dalgleish; brothers Barry and Tom Dalgleish; and sister Faye Evoy.
In keeping with Jack's wishes, arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. An inurnment service with military honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Lapeer VFW Post 4139.
