Jack Burton Edgmon passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at Skyline Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a native of Williamson County and was the first-born son to Leonard and Eula Edgmon of the West Harpeth Community. He was a graduate of the 1955 class at Franklin High School, where he excelled in football. Jack continued his education at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. His passion for playing football would also continue to become a proud player for the Tennessee Volunteers.
He would marry Elizabeth Kleishman, settle in Brentwood, TN and start a family. When given the opportunity of a lifetime in 1970, Jack uprooted his family and moved to Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera in the Bahamas to manage a Dairy Farm and Creamery. After a few years on the island, he came back to Brentwood and purchased a Dairy Farm in
McEwen, TN. Jack and his family would call this home for the next several years. His wife, Elizabeth would pass away from cancer in 1992.
In 1993, Jack married MarthaAnn Alexander, a childhood friend from Franklin. They would blend two families that would grow in abundance with grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the next 30 years.
Jack was a proud lifelong farmer and an advocate for several other farmers in the community through his service on the Dickson County CO-OP Board, Soil Conservation Board, ASCS Board and Farm Credit Board of Directors. He would eventually retire from dairy farming, move to Burns, TN, where he would garden, can, fish, hunt, and spend time with his ever-growing family.
Jack will be remembered for his willingness and generosity to always help others, his hard work ethic, his ability to teach life lessons, advice with love, and patience and his amazing strength. His presence as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife, MarthaAnn Edgmon; son, Mike Edgmon (Cathi) of McEwen; daughters, Tammy Lagan (Chris) of McEwen and Darby Lansford of Tennessee City, TN; stepson, Ricky Alexander (Teresa) of Murfreesboro, TN; stepdaughters, Beth Reed, Lydia Baker (Sammy) and Claudia Moore, all of Franklin, TN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
