Sharon Curtis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Luff-Bowen Funeral Home - McEwen on Jan. 25, 2026.
Sharon Elaine Ross Curtis was born on November 8, 1952. She married the love of her life, David Curtis, at her parents' home on May 19, 1973. She was a God fearing woman who loved her family, friends, Elvis, traveling, hallmark movies, chocolate, caramel corn, and hot tamales. She enjoyed playing softball and watching her kids, nieces, nephews, and many other kids she thought of like hers play all kinds of sports. You could count on her to be at a game and help take a car load when traveling was required. Sharon loved her church and church family. She was always there to help out with activities and keep records. Sharon had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. She went to work for the Dept. of Human Services right out of high school and retired in 2008. She then worked countless hours helping her best friend, Martha Proctor, during tax season. Some of her proudest accomplishments were adopting her daughter and son and getting to see her grandchildren be born and spend time loving them. Sharon loved going to see Elvis with Sha, Sherry, Yun, and Susan. Another one of her proud accomplishments was walking on stage and having Elvis personally hand her one of his scarfs at one of his concerts. Sharon looked forward to frequent trips Florida to see her family and trips with her friend Sha White and others. She was loved by so many.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen beginning at 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and also on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Sharon's nephew, Tony Curtis will officiate the service. Interment to follow at McEwen Cemetery.

If someone feels lead to donate in memory of Mrs. Sharon to the Cancer Society rather than send flowers, the family would love for you to do that in honor of their loved one.

Sandra D. Pleas

February 7, 2026

I was deeply saddened to hear of Sharon's passing. She was truly a joy to know, and I will always remember her for being so smiling and friendly.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon through my job at Tennessee State Employees Association, where she was an active member of the TSEA Highland Rim chapter for many years. Whenever I asked her for help with something, she was always so willing to assist.

I will miss her dearly. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Sincerely,
Sandra D. Pleas
