Jack Victor Eumont, 97, of Gretna, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the comfort of family and a life well lived. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 6, 1928, to Lena and Clarence Eumont. He attended St. Aloysius High School, graduated from Loyola University, and married the love of his life, Joyce Raphael, on March 3, 1951. Together, Jack and Joyce built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, and family.

Jack devoted over 30 years of his professional life to the Louisiana Land and Exploration Company, retiring in 1988. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and integrity.

A man of generosity and vision, Jack gave selflessly of his time and leadership to countless educational, civic, and charitable organizations, including Dillard University, Xavier University, Loyola University, Dominican College, the Dominican Sisters in Rosaryville, United Way, Boys Hope Girls Hope, the City Park Board of Directors, and the Harry Tompson Center. His many honors include the D.H. Holmes Student Athlete Award, Alumnus of the Year for Loyola University's Business School, and induction into the Loyola University Sports Hall of Fame, recognitions that reflected both his achievements and his enduring impact on others.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Nick Matulich; and his cherished wife of 69 years, Joyce Eumont, with whom he shared a lifetime of unwavering love and devotion. He is survived by his six loving children: Janelle Rodrigue (Rick), Jack Eumont Jr. (Leah), Judy Archer (John), Jill Melito (Chuck), Jeffrey Eumont, and Jerry Eumont (Kristi). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a joyful great-grandfather to 27 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.

The family of Jack wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to his devoted caregivers Shanitra, Adrienne, Janice, Dorothy, Derenda and to the compassionate team at St. Joseph Hospice, whose kindness, dignity, and care brought comfort during his final days.

Jack will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the generations who carry his love forward.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70119, with Father Anthony McGinn, S.J., officiating. Interment will be private.
