M. Jack Heins, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jack lived a long and fulfilling life marked by integrity, and devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and most recently, a proud great-grandfather.

At 16, he began working at Iowa Manufacturing as a material mover, but the real reason he was hired was to play third base for Howard Hall's M and J team. It was a great challenge and Jack loved baseball all his life.

He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1950 with a degree in business. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Jack joined McGladrey, Hansen, Dunn & Company. As a CPA, he built a distinguished career serving clients and helping the firm grow into what is now known as RSM.

Jack's love for golf began when he worked as a caddie at Elmcrest Country Club. Over the years, he went on to serve as president of both Elmcrest and Cedar Rapids Country Clubs. A lifelong golfer, Jack achieved four aces and was always a fierce competitor. As a reflection of the deep roots and enduring friendships he cultivated in his community, he played with the same foursome for more than 30 years.

In 1962, Jack married Jackie, and from that moment forward, they were devoted partners, traveling together, tailgating, cherishing family, and, as Jack often said, "having a helluva good time."

He is survived by his son, Charlie Heins (Kissy); daughter, Ann Heins; grandchildren, Jennifer Heins Davis (Nick) and Charles Heins (Fiona); and great-granddaughter, Annie Heins Davis.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jack lived nearly a century with grace, humor, kindness, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to thank the exceptional staff members at Cottage Grove Place for their excellent care.
