Jack Jokisch Obituary

Jack Jokisch
Jacksonville - Jack L. Jokisch was called home on Saturday, October 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Jacksonville, Illinois. Jack was the son of Orville and Hazel (Lacey) Jokisch and was born September 15, 1927, in Jacksonville. On March 14, 1953, Jack married Margaret Hoots, and they enjoyed a long and happy marriage until her passing on February 17, 2023. Jack continued to enjoy his family for another year but never stopped missing the love of his life.
Jack attended Brush College Grade School in rural Morgan County and graduated from Virginia High School in 1945. He farmed his entire life in northern Morgan County, first alongside his father, and later with his sons. He loved farming and was a good steward of the land, and he was extremely pleased to have received the Illinois Centennial Farm certification. Jack was baptized at Literberry Christian Church where he remained a member until his death and served on the Church Board and various committees. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, served on the Jacksonville Mutual Insurance Company Board, was a member of the Anti-Theft Association, and a 4-H Leader.
Jack was a devoted father and grandfather, enjoyed sports, especially baseball and though he was sympathetic to the Cubs, was a true Cardinal fan. As a young man, he played fast pitch softball in Literberry and also played church league softball.
Surviving are his children, Jack, Jr. and his wife Laurie, Janet Alexander, James and his wife Marcella, and Joyce Doyle; Grandchildren: Jack III (Alisa) Jokisch, Jill (David) Sanchez, Jeff (Jill) Alexander, Jeremy Alexander, Joanna (Zack) Morrissey, Heather (Nick) York, Joshua (Allie) Jokisch, Jacob Jokisch, Jamie Jokisch, Kyle (Maggie Miller) Doyle, Kelsey Davidsmeyer, Kloe (Nathan Booth) Doyle, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son-in-law, Mike Alexander.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Literberry Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Arcadia Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Literberry Christian Church or Williams Syndrome Association. The Williamson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
