Jack D. Lewellyn age 87, of New Richmond, passed away at 12:20 PM Sunday March 9, 2025 in 1019 Belle's Place, Crawfordsville. He was born to the late Wallace and Edna Sharp Lewellyn on June 19, 1937, in Indianapolis. On February 17, 1963, Jack married Wilma Ubbinga, and together they shared a loving and devoted life. Jack retired after 33 years as a saw operator at ALCOA in Lafayette and enjoyed working part-time as a painter. He also served his country with pride in the Army National Guard.
A longtime member of Young's Chapel Christian Church, Jack was active in his faith and community. He was a simple man who loved spending time outdoors-whether it was gardening, mowing the lawn on his riding mower, or relaxing on his porch swing while watching the neighbor kids play. Jack also had a keen interest in collecting rocks and antiques, and his fondness for ice cream and candy was well-known by all who knew him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Wilma; his brothers, Joe and Wally Lewellyn; and his sisters, Joanne VanCleave and Maye Gallion.
He is survived by his daughter, Libby (Brad) Neibert of New Richmond; his son, Chris (Candy) Lewellyn of New Richmond; his granddaughters, Mara (John) Irons of Erie, CO, and Maddie Lewellyn of New Richmond; and his sister, Jane (Mike) Sabens of Crawfordsville.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at 1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville for their compassionate care and kindness in making Jack feel at home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Family and Friends Funeral Home in Wingate, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Kenneson officiating Burial will take place at New Richmond Cemetery after the service.
