Jack McCullick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home - El Dorado Springs on May 26, 2024.
Jackie Joe McCullick, age 81, departed his earthly home and entered his Heavenly glory on May 24, 2024, at his home with family surrounding him.
On January 24, 1943, Jack was born to Joe Clayton and Lavilla Cloe (Mays) McCullick in Cedar County, MO. He was the second child and was welcomed home by his very proud big sister, Annabel. Jack was raised on the family farm, and in 1948, they moved to the farm in St, Clair County, MO, and he spent the rest of his childhood living there. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1960. He volunteered to join the United States Army and served his country proudly.
Jack took notice of a young lady staying with his neighbors while working on the family farm and was quickly smitten. He began courting Lula "Kay" Leonard and they were married on July 17, 1966, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Jack accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior the night before he married Kay in Ralph Marcum's living room. Jack and Kay were blessed with three children: Melissa Kay, Michael Joe, and Miranda Beth. They shared twenty-nine years together before Kay went to be with the Lord in 1995.
In 1999, Jack reconnected with Shirley Jean (Smith) Johnson. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on May 29, 1999. They shared almost twenty-five years together and many wonderful memories. Jack and Shirley combined their families and spent many years enjoying them.
Jack had a strong faith and was known to many for his years teaching Sunday School and Bible studies. Jack was a hard worker. He loved working on the farm, which he did all his life. Jack worked hard in a variety of jobs to support his family. He retired from 3M after eighteen years of service.
As well as having a strong work ethic, Jack was known for his strong ornery streak. Whether it was cold coffee in a Coke bottle, chocolate covered green persimmons, soap on your toothbrush, cottage cheese in buttermilk, or many of the other practical jokes he played on so many, no one was safe, whether it be family, co-workers, or friends. Jack also enjoyed a good game of dodgeball with his grandkids lined along the garage.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lavilla McCullick; his wife, Lula "Kay" McCullick; and his grandson, Joshua McCullick.
Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; his sister, Annabel Yockey; his children: Missy (David) Myers, Springfield, MO, Mike (Chastity) McCullick, El Dorado Springs, MO, and Mandi (Randy) Bland, El Dorado Springs, MO; his bonus children Joey (Natalie) Johnson, Nevada, MO, Betty Ann (Tom) O'Connell, Carthage, MO, and Jennifer Knowles, London, England. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren: Kayley Myers, Chad Myers, Bradley (Brooke) McCullick, KayLynne McCullick, Gannon McCullick, Maisie Bland, Evangeline "Lena" Bland, Josiah (Katie) Johnson, Lexi (Neil) Barnes, Hunter (Maria) Johnson, Will Johnson, Trey O'Connell, Troy O'Connell, Micah O'Connell, Josh O'Connell, Joel O'Connell, Tommy (Shania) O'Connell, Kolby O'Connell, Annie O'Connell, Shelby Guss, Jordan Guss, Audrie Thorpe, and Matilda Knowles; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
