Jack L. Pollack, age 87 ½ died on Tuesday, August 19th. Jack was born in Eveleth and a lifelong resident. Jack lived his life to the fullest and died within a few weeks of becoming ill.
Jack was a journeyman electrician for 30 plus years at US Steel. What he loved the most was fixing and building things. Jack was a bit of a collector because in his words, "you never know when you might need it". He was happiest when teaching others what he knew and loved. Jack had the patience of a saint. He was intelligent, funny and happy. Jack 's mind was like a steel trap, he could remember everything. He loved boxing, hockey, and spending time with his family. Jack was extremely proud of his heritage and his hometown of Eveleth. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July (when he turns the age to the half) because of all the festivities and where he could connect with family and friends. He loved to spend time at the "lake" and he built the lake sauna with such precision, skill, and pride so everyone enjoyed using it. Jack loved to reminisce and tell stories of the past. There wasn't a detail that he couldn't remember.
Jack was born on January 4, 1938, to Steve and Katherine Pollack. He was one of nine children.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna (Devescovi), his children, Christine Pollack Oxford, Liane (Kirk) Davis, and John (Shannon) Pollack. He has five grandsons, Brock Oxford, Nathan Black, Gavin" Gavonovich" Davis, Dylan Davis, and John Pollack Jr. He was so proud of all of them. Jack's remaining brothers and sister, include Cathleen "Dude" Kloiber, Joesph "Joey" (Rozanne) Pollack, James "Jimmy" (Donna) Pollack. Jack also regarded his in-laws as brothers and sisters. They include Ione Pollack, Bonnie Devescovi, Claude (Sally) Devescovi and Bruno (Karen) Devescovi. He has numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Jack loved all friends and family along the way.
