Jack Salzsieder, 81, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to honor and love him. He was born on August 26th, 1941, to Edward and Mabel "Christensen" Salzsieder in Jamestown, North Dakota. He lived in Edgeley, North Dakota where he graduated High School. After High School he enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard while attending North Dakota State University. He married the love of his life on May 29th, 1966 in Jamestown, North Dakota.
From the earliest days of his childhood, Jack enjoyed fishing with his friends and family. Jack's knowledge of fishing was vast, and he generously passed on his wisdom to others, always willing to share a tip or a tale from his many fishing adventures. His love for hunting was equally profound. With a keen eye and steady aim, he embraced the art of hunting with great respect and admiration for the animals he pursued. His passions did not stop there, he was an avid supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers. He loved tailgating, and grilling food for his friends and family.
Most of his career, Jack committed his life as a farm manager with an unwavering passion and devotion. After two decades in agriculture, Jack embarked on a new chapter, spending the next 30 years as an insurance broker. With a heart full of compassion, Jack was ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. He was a member of the Des Moines area Shriners and a Mason. Jack and his wife were also members at St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; daughters Jackie Batterson and Renee (Tim) Isenberg; and grandchildren Abigail Isenberg, Elizabeth Isenberg, Lily Batterson and Jackson Batterson; his nephew Bruce Salzsieder. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard, Harold and Edward. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at 10:00 am at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale, Iowa.
