Jack F. Schreckengost

Jack Franklyn Schreckengost, 81, of New Holland, formerly of Summerville, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025. He was born in Summerville on Jan. 6, 1944, to the late Henry William Schreckengost and Dorothy Ruth Plyler Wolfe. Dr. Schreckengost started as a high school math teacher and became a statistician after earning a Ph.D. in statistics. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry, including the Food and Drug Administration. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick, MD, the Mathematical Association of America, and the United Ostomy Associations of America and volunteered at several youth UOAA support camps. Dr. Schreckengost was an avid wood craftsman and genealogy expert and enjoyed reading and collecting pennies. He played the trombone with the Harmony Cornet Band and watched women's college basketball with his wife, Donna Rae. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Schreckengost of Frederick, MD; son, Kurt (Kacey) Schreckengost of Hampton, NJ; grandsons, Conor and Cameron Schreckengost; and his brothers, John Wolfe and Wayne Wolfe. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Elizabeth Schreckengost Kinzey; and brothers, William Clarence Schreckengost and Henry Charles Schreckengost. His wife, Donna Rae Leach Schreckengost, passed away on Nov. 2, 2025. Graveside services will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
