Jack Testanero Obituary

Jack Testanero, Sr.
Jack Testanero, Sr., 98, of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Willetta (Willis) Testanero, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born in Montreal, Canada on September 25, 1924 as his family immigrated from Italy. He was the 8th child of the late Vincenzo and Madeline (Manes) Testanero.
He was a proud Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Medical Corps in France. His time in the war was represented throughout the rest of his life by meticulously building a collection of model airplanes.
Jack was a champion Duck Pin Bowler and enjoyed stock car racing in his younger days. Then his later years you could still find him racing around town in his 1970 Mercury Cougar. He loved dancing and listening to Big Band music, which always brought out his youthful side. He was passionate about his family as he and Willetta even spent their summers in Florida to be close to their grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his son-in-law, Timothy Steinman; his grandchildren, Dillon and Cody Steinman, and Brittany Meier and her husband, Luke; his two great-grandchildren, Zechariah and Adelyn Joy. He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.
Jack was also predeceased by his son, Jack, Jr.; his daughter, Joy Steinman; as well as his eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, July 31st at 10:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors
will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

I am saddened to hear of Jack´s passing. Growing up on Westwood Drive, I met the Testaneros when they moved into the neighborhood in, I believe, 1965. I was fortunate to become friends with Jack Jr. and with Joy and as I recall Jack Sr. and his wife were the nicest parents of the group. We kids used to hang out there quite a bit and they were always very nice to us (which with young teenage boys must have taken some patience). In fact, we were so comfortable around him that one of the kids coined the nickname "Mr. Jack" to refer to him (when we were kids all adults outside of the family were addressed as Mr. or Mrs.).
And he had quite a sense of humor; a really great guy to be around.
My condolences to his family,
Terry Mahon

My prayers for the family.Jack was such a wonderful, funny person with a smile always on his face.So many memories when he was a doorman at the old Dialtone on Mill Plain rd.in Danbury and we worked together. So many parties and picnics he and Willie attended.Willie went to school with my Dad and he always spoke of how she and Jack were made for each other.Used to enjoy watching him bowl at the war memorial with all the guys and Jack always had such a good spirit.and he loved to pull a good trick on others and had such an infectious laugh. Will be sadly missed. And I know family and friends waiting in heaven to greet him and he can be with Willie again.
Rest in peace .
Patti
