Jack Henry Weech, Jr., Esq. (1942-2025)
Jack Henry Weech, Jr. died in Lakeland, Florida on April 7, 2025 at the age of 83,
surrounded by his wife of 60 years and loving family.
Jack Weech was born March 11, 1942 in Key West, FL to Jack Henry Weech, Sr.
and Magali de Leon Weech. Jack played football at Key West High School, and enlisted
in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
In 1964, he met lovely Joyce Lee Pasqualone at a USO dance in Baltimore, MD.
They were married on August 25, before he was deployed to Saigon, Vietnam to serve
as a Staff Sergeant in the 902nd Military Intelligence Group. After serving a tour in
Vietnam, he returned to DC to work for the Pentagon and CIA, where he received a
commendation for his untiring work as a Senior Enlisted Analyst.
Jack Weech left the Army to pursue his education, receiving his bachelors in
Political Science from the University of Maryland and his law degree from Temple
Universitys James E. Beasley School of Law, Philadelphia, PA. He entered law
enforcement as a Criminal Investigator for the Philadelphia Office of the US Postal
Investigation Service, before moving his family to Lakeland, FL, where he became an
associate attorney at the office of Denis L. Fontaine. Jack later partnered with Glenn T.
Shelby to open Weech & Shelby, P.A., and finally separated to open the office of J.H.
Weech, Bankruptcy and Immigration Law.
In 1995, Jack closed his practice to enter the mission field. He and Joyce moved
to Morocco, and then to Malaga, Spain where Jack helped produce a Christian radio
broadcast to Northern Africa. After returning to the United States, he embarked on
another mission of sorts, working as a Public Defender before retiring at which point
he concentrated solely on helping those with immigration issues.
Jack was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Scott Jose Weech, who
passed September 9, 2017 during Hurricane Irma. He is survived by his brother Leon
Weech, his sisters Gale Zamzow and Candice Esquinaldo, and his three daughters
Faith Cagle, Pamela Vickers, and Abigale Weech-Starkey. Jack Weech was a proud
grandfather to eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
His ancestors being some of the earliest settlers and founders of Key West, Jack
was proud of his Conch heritage, especially his mothers Cuban ancestry, and he blew
the conch shell every New Years Eve. Jack spoke English, Spanish, Arabic, and
Mandarin Chinese. He studied judo, and was a boxer and boxing referee, invited to
referee the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. He coached boxing and mentored young,
underprivileged athletes for the Police Athletic League for many years. Jack also spent
many years in Pro-Life Advocacy fighting for the rights of the unborn. He was an avid
runner and hiking enthusiast, who made his final hike not two weeks before his passing.
Jack Weech led a full life, proudly served his country, and he will be sorely missed.
