With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jack Cecil Whisonant, who left this world peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on December 9, 1930, in Martinsville, Virginia, Jack devoted his life to his family and his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
As a lifelong and faithful member of Dalraida Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, Jack served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and faithful member, exemplifying his profound commitment to his faith and his church family. His life was distinguished by his unwavering principles, kind heart, and dedication to helping others.
Jack enjoyed a fulfilling career in the education sector, where he inspired countless students throughout the years. After his retirement, he remained an avid learner and shared his passions with those around him. An enthusiastic camper and gardener, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often tending to his plants and enjoying the great outdoors. Jack also had a knack for small engine repair, a hobby that showcased his hands-on skills and resourcefulness. In quieter moments, he reveled in watching old Westerns, a nostalgic pastime that brought him comfort and joy.
Jack was preceded in death by his father and mother, Garland and Jeanette Whisonant; his beloved wife, Ruth Whisonant. Jack is survived by his beloved son, Chester Whisonant; his devoted daughter, Cindy Whisonant; his brother, Baxter Whisonant; his sister, Garlene Brown; and his cherished grandchildren, Brandon and Mitchell Whisonant. Each of them carries a piece of Jack's spirit, and his love will continue to resonate in their lives.
In accordance with Jack's wishes, cremation will take place, and a graveside service will be held at Universalist Cemetery in Ariton, Alabama, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Jack's remarkable life. The service will take place on Friday, April 11 at 1:00PM.
As we remember Jack Cecil Whisonant, let us cherish the memories we hold and carry forward the values he instilled in us-all while finding solace in knowing he is at peace. May his legacy of love and faith continue to inspire all who knew him.
