Jack E. White, 94, of
Gillette, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home.
Born on October 23, 1931, in
Philadelphia, PA, Jack was the son of the late Mae (née Yarnell) and George White.
Jack grew up in Warren on Schmalz Dairy Farm and built his first home with his fiancée, Esther Cucciniello, in Gillette. They later moved to another home in Gillette where they lived together for 63 years. After his wife passed, Jack moved to an assisted living facility in
Warren, NJ where is was the "talk of the town" telling his jokes, laughing, and carrying on with the other residents.
He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, drafted from 1952-1954, continuing his service until his honorable discharge in 1960.
Jack started out as a milkman for Schmalz Dairy, salesman at 7Up, and finally a landscaper by trade. Jack was the owner and operator of White's Landscaping. He had a strong work ethic and could fix/repair/build/make just about anything. Without much formal schooling, Jack was a very successful in helping others. One restaurant in particular, the Prestige Diner, in New Providence, NJ was where Jack was Mr. Fix-it. He would go in at 5:00 am daily to make the decaf coffee and go to work on fixing whatever needed fixing. One of Jack's favorite pastime was Flea Markets. He would stop at a flea market, garage sale, or a roadside pickup and gather his wares to sell at a swap meet or his table at the Warren Flea Market.
He was an member of the American Legion, Mount Carmel Society, Long Hill Township and Watchung Senior Citizens, and the Military Transport Association. Through the Military Transport Association, Jack shared his lifelong passion for Army vehicles with fellow enthusiasts. He amassed an extensive and award-winning collection of military vehicles, including a Willies Jeep, Ambulance, and a WWII Command Car, many of which were showcased in parades and shows throughout the years.
Jack is survived by his loving children, son, David White and his wife Kim, and daughter, Lori White. He was a cherished grandpa to Jessica Crisco and her husband Cole, Eric White, Samantha Sage, Esch Sage, and Madison Sage. He is also survived by his adored black cat, Pepper.
Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Esther White (nee Cucciniello of Summit NJ) for 63 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, December 18th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Avenue,
Berkeley Heights, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19th, at 10:30 AM at the Shrine of St. Joseph, Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery.
