Jack William Williamson was born July 10, 1931, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Fred & Ethel Hughes Williamson. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. After serving three years as a paratrooper in the United States Army, Jack enrolled at Florida State University where he earned a degree in geology. He joined the ranks at Englehard in 1957 and worked his way from a field engineer to Mining & Properties Manager, retiring with 38 years of service. Jack and his family were integral in building the Bainbridge First Church of God. Later, he became a member of First Methodist Church.

North Spoon (Jack's property) was his slice of heaven on earth. His style was hands-on management where he took to task burning, mowing, and upkeep on the pond allowing age to only be a number. Consulting with others on pond building and management became a highlight.

Jack's humor and story telling often included details about his friends that never seemed to fade. He was quite a shot in a dove field or the quail woods and enjoyed fishing, frog gigging, golf, and, of course, tennis where he mentored generations in sportsmanship. Jack was an avid FSU fan, living and breathing garnet and gold.

He was a friend to most and to those, a friend for life. Family was always number one and seemed to grow exponentially as the friends of his children and grands were welcomed into the fold. Jack believed a bad day at the beach was better than a good day anywhere else besides home.

Survivors include his children, Jackie Williamson Lee; Becky Williamson Griffin (Stuart), and Charla Williamson; his grandchildren, Brad & Brandy, Lance & Heather, Bo & Cori, Tom & Nancy, Mollie & Matt, Meghan & Chris, Jon & Rachel, Josh & Heather, Bobby & Valerie, and Jack; twenty great-grandchildren; one (almost) great-great-grandchild; his special friend, Mary Jo Dudley; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Haire Williamson; his children, Diana Williamson Blackmon and Billy Williamson; his grandson, Jeff Sapp; and his siblings, Fred Williamson, James Williamson, Larry Williamson, and Fredda Williamson Salter.
