Jack was an accomplished musician, playing keyboards and singing with several local Frederick bands over the years, including Too Many People, Honeywagon and Plain Brown Wrapper. He also enjoyed piano tuning and tennis.

Jack loved to bake, and in 1986 he opened Jack's Country Donuts in Frederick, which he owned and operated until 1996.

Lately Jack was employed with Community Living, Inc and United Cerebral Palsy in Frederick caring for people with developmental disabilities, which he took great pride in.

He is survived by sons, Anders J. Yanike & wife Lauren (Torbeck) of Taneytown and Luke A. Yanike & wife Kim of Frederick, and beloved grandchildren Gwyneth, Joseph, Elijah, Josie, Isaac, Evan; and sister, Suzanne Nusbaum & partner Bob Baltzell of Frederick.
