She was the beloved and cherished mother of Randy (Anne McCardell), Becky (Hans Hansen) & Suzie (Ken Schroeder), devoted grandmother of Sean (Vicky), Kelly, Laura, Erin & Shannon, loving sister of Dan (Sue) Williams and Dave (Cathy) Shore, adored cousin, dear sister-in-law to Cathy (Mark) Sorrentino, Richard (Gene Roach) Enk, fond aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jackie was also the respected friend of a great number of people including her "like a sister" friend, Elaine Classen.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Harry E. Enk and parents, Lester W. "Wayne" and Dorothy G. "Ella" Williams.
Jackie was raised in southern Illinois but returned to the Chicago area where she spent her adulthood. Aside from being a devoted mom, Jackie worked as an executive secretary retiring to further enjoy her family and to pursue her numerous hobbies. She will be remembered for being a talented seamstress and crafter – exceling in draperies, bridesmaid dresses, and her own wedding dress. People gravitated to Jackie's lively personality. She was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed family get-togethers, traveling, dancing, reading, and parties – especially Halloween costume parties. Jackie loved playing games as evidenced by her monthly participation in two card clubs – one for 40 and one for 59 years. She passed along this love to her children and grandchildren and is known for her flexible rules as well as carrying a deck of cards and dice in her purse.
Special Olympics and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital were two charities that were always close to Jackie's heart. The family would appreciate memorial donations in her name be made to either of these most deserving organizations.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 4:00-9:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Closing prayers will begin on Wednesday, November 10, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 10, 11:00 AM at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
