Jacqueline “Jackie” Laux-Wendt, age 82, of Tustin, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday morning, November 2.

Jackie was born on December 16, 1942, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Marjorie (Margie) and Jack Laux. She grew up in Appleton, attending St. Therese Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, and Appleton High School.

Jackie began her career waitressing at Mr. Steak, where she loved chatting with her regulars and sharing stories with customers. From 1978 until her retirement in 1998, she worked at Mid-America Tag and Label as a plate maker and in customer service. Her dedication, humor, and strong work ethic made her a valued part of every workplace she joined.

In 1991, Jackie married Rick Wendt in Appleton, WI. Together, they enjoyed a full and happy life—spending time with friends, camping, boating, going to concerts, and cherishing time with their family. They eventually moved from Appleton to Tustin, where they built their forever home on Lake Poygan. Rick was not only Jackie’s husband but her steadfast companion and caregiver; they shared their days side by side, enjoying the small things such as birds and animal life.

Jackie and her former husband, Bert Eick, raised three children: Jamie, Nancy, and Jacques. She is survived by her children, Nancy Jo (Rich) Krause and Jacques (Amy) Eick; her grandchildren, Alyssa Jo (Scott) Salvinski, Nicholas Krause, and Christopher (Alexa) Eick; and her great-grandchildren, Rosie Jo and Nomie Jo Whitlinger, Charley Jacques and Lucy Jo Eick, and Mason Salvinski. Jackie is survived by four sisters, Kitty (the late Jimmy) Boyson, Nancy (Bob) Grishaber, Linda (Glenn) Gruett, and Suzi (Mike) Rank, brother Bobby Laux, and sister-in-law Lynn Laux (the late Steve). She will also be missed by brother-in-law Jerry Wendt (Mary) and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jamie, her infant daughter Gabriella, and brothers Billy and Steve Laux.

Jackie had a deep love for animals and was a longtime supporter of local animal shelters. Her compassion for all living creatures often led her to take in strays and care for them as her own. She also enjoyed her time with the Civil Air Patrol during high school and had a lifelong appreciation for nature. She could often be found exploring her yard, gently catching frogs or toads, or enjoying the lake view.

A true Wisconsinite, Jackie was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved spending sunny days boating on Lake Poygan. One of her greatest joys was shopping—she could spend hours strolling through every aisle.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a short time for prayer to follow at 7:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal rescue shelter to help an animal in need of a loving home.

Jackie will be remembered for her loving heart, sharp wit, and love of family. Her warmth and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
