Bill Behrent of Appleton, age 82, passed away on November 3rd at home. He was born in Appleton, WI on August 3, 1943, the son of the late Edwin Jr. and Guinevere (Roocks) Behrent. On December 6th, 1973, he married Patricia Vanden Boogard at St. Paul Catholic Church of Combined Locks WI.
Bill served in the Appleton Police Department for 28 years and retired as a sergeant in September 1993. Bill was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association and Member of the Police Benevolent Association.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and traveling with his family and spent many loving hours with his grandchildren. He had a lifetime passion for cars, gun collecting, and target shooting. He always put his love of family first. He also enjoyed emailing his friends and the comradery of coffee meets with other retired officers & friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Pat of 52 years, sons Bryan and Gary, daughter Cheryl, grandson Joe and granddaughters Annie, Emma, and Rylie, his brother Michael and Sister-in-law Denise, nieces Heather and Nichole. Bill is further survived by the Breakfast Bunch and many dear friends from the Appleton Police Department.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Guinevere, mother-in-law Ann, sister-in-law Sharon and brother-in-law Duaine Vanden Boogard.
The funeral liturgy for Bill will take place at 11:30AM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St. Appleton, WI. The family will receive friends at church from 10:30AM until the time of liturgy. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, 131 N Richmond St., Appleton, Wisconsin. Bill was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. We have lost someone very special in our lives. Bill will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
