Jackie Ray Liston, known fondly as Jackie to his family and friends, departed this world on May 16, 2024, in Deberry, Texas, at the age of 71. Born on December 15, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Jackie was a man whose robust laughter and kind heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Jackie was a proud graduate of Carthage High School. Following high school, he continued his education at Panola Junior College, where he earned an Associate's Degree. He dedicated many years of his life to a successful career as a construction manager all over the country in heavy industrial construction, earning the respect from all corporations he worked with and was highly sought after by these companies until his retirement. He was a mentor to many young men that went on to succeed in industry. Above all, Jackie was a family man. His legacy continues with his son, Keith Liston, of whom he was so immensely proud of. He is also survived by his wife, Connie Quick Liston and his sister, Lisa Liston. Jackie's life was enriched by the love and company of numerous cousins, their children, and other family members. He also leaves behind a network of friends, whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity. Jackie was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Shantai Ortiz, and his parents, Richard Keith Liston and Nell Ruth Folmar. An avid outdoorsman, Jackie's passion for hunting and fishing was only matched by his love for cooking. He loved cooking for all his friends, that were like family to him. He was the heart of every cookout and gathering, always ensuring that no one left hungry and that every meal was an occasion to celebrate. His culinary skills were a gift he delighted in sharing, and his dishes will be remembered by many. Jackie's sense of humor was legendary. He was a master of practical jokes, always finding ways to inject humor into daily life. His ability to make people laugh was a testament to his joyful spirit and his understanding of the importance of not taking life too seriously. In addition to his other interests, Jackie was an accomplished martial artist, achieving the rank of a 5th-degree black belt in Taekwondo. This discipline reflected his dedication to self-improvement and his respect for the strength and resilience of the human spirit. Jackie's presence was a light in the lives of those who knew him. His unwavering commitment to his family, his tenacity in his profession, and his zest for life's simple pleasures have left an indelible mark. As we bid farewell to Jackie Ray Liston, we do so with grateful hearts for the time we were fortunate enough to spend with him and for the countless ways he enriched our lives. Though he has left this earthly realm, the stories of Jackie's adventures, his laughter, and his love will continue to resonate with us all. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and reminded us to do the same. Jackie's spirit will forever be a beacon of joy and kindness, guiding us through our own journeys with the memory of his enduring love. As Jackie embarks on his final journey, we take comfort in knowing that his was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured by his family and friends for generations to come. We celebrate Jackie Ray Liston's remarkable life, and while we mourn his passing, we also honor the extraordinary person he was. It´s with a heavy heart that I write this most heartfelt condolences to Jackie´s family and loved ones. I worked with Jackie early in his career in Nebraska and then in east Texas. Our families so many happy times together at fish fries and cookouts. Not to mention the fishing and hunting trips. Sadly we went our separate ways and lost track of one another for several years. I would run into him every now and then on a job somewhere. We finally got in touch again a few months ago. We have lost a good man and a good friend. I have a tattoo on my right arm and Jackie has a matching one on his left arm. We got them one weekend in Denver. Every time I look at I´ll fondly remember my friend. Go with God my friend, until we meet again. John Thompson
