Jackie Karen Sneed

Jackie Karen Sneed, 71, passed away at home February 24, 2024 in Lipan, Texas, surrounded by her loving family after years of struggling with Dementia.
Jackie was born on August 8, 1952, in Weatherford, Texas, to Coke and Dot Whisenant. Jackie joined her three sisters, Linda, Pam and Debbie, north of Aledo on the Farmer Dairy where their daddy and many other family members worked. She and her sisters enjoyed a childhood of fresh air and cousins. Even after the dairy closed and they moved into town, she was still surrounded by family. After graduating high school in 1970, she attended Weatherford College before starting her long career in banking.
One of her cousins introduced her to a young man coaching football at Aledo. She and Mike Sneed were married on June 28, 1974. In 1980 they adopted their daughter Emily and several years later their son Mark. She was an exemplary "Football Wife" and mother all while building her career in banking until her retirement in 2007.
Jackie was big hearted and made friendships that lasted her lifetime. She loved to entertain and cook and search garage sales with her best friends. She loved to travel and explore, planning many trips that included friends and family. Her nieces and nephews called her the fun aunt. After retirement, they moved to Lipan to be near family. She was so happy looking forward to growing old surrounded once again by those she loved. All this well-earned happiness was cruelly ended by her illness.
Her departure comes as a relief to those who loved her but leaves a deep wound felt by her entire family and all those dear friends she made along the way. We deeply appreciate all the love and prayers and want to especially thank the wonderful workers from Concho Heart, Brandy, Kylie, Natalie and Lindsey, and Angels Among Us, LoLynn and Lou Ann.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mike Sneed; her children, Emily Lester and Mark (Meranda, Karson, and Kieran Gaston) Sneed; her sisters, Linda Higgins, Pam (Kirk) Johnson, and Debbie Gilbreath; brothers-in-law, Ricky Sneed and Pat (Carrie) Sneed; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her two remaining aunts, Clara Whisenant and Gail Roe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Coke and Dot Whisenant; her brothers-in-law, Willard Higgins and Ted Gilbreath; her nephew, Kevin Sewell; and her parents by marriage, Edward and Gene Sneed.
Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, and the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford, Texas. Burial will follow at Hoggard-Reynolds Cemetery in Azle, Texas.
