Jacob Hamilton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home on Nov. 5, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Jacob Michael Hamilton Age 34
Devoted son of Robert and Sherri Hamilton (nee Boganski).
Loving brother of Nicholas (Kristi Townsend), Abi Hamilton and Jack Hamilton.
Dear grandson of Margaret "Nanie" Hamilton and the late John Hamilton. The late Robert and late Elaine Boganski.
Cherished nephew of Aunt Cathy, Aunt Kathy (Schmoopie), Aunt Peg & Uncle Mooch, Aunt Tam & Uncle John, Aunt Amanda, Aunt Helene & Uncle Joe, Uncle Xavier and Uncle Nick.
Adored cousin of Megan (Dom), Annie (Mike), Mike (Rachel) Tony (Mary), Johnny, Joey, Jessica, Natalie, Caleb and Nora.
Incredible best friend to Rob Pohlman.
Proceeded in death by his Uncle Ricky, Aunt Lynn, cousin Mikey Q and friend Evan C.
Jake was born in Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood and later moved to Tinley Park, went to Grissom and then became an Andrew T-Bolt, where he started collecting the friends who would stay with him for life. He was the kid who played football and baseball, joined the bass fishing team, and somehow still had time to make everyone laugh. Jake loved his people fiercely. His mom and dad, his siblings Nick, Abi and Jack and his Nanie were at the center of his world. He was just as close to his aunts, uncles and cousins. His best friend Robert, aka Peewee, were right there with him through it all.
He went on to the University of Iowa, cheered for the Hawkeyes, became a civil engineer and spent a few years in Louisville before coming back home to the Chicago area, where he belonged. Jake was only 34 when he died suddenly, which feels impossibly unfair for someone who lit up every room.
He loved sports and could rattle off stats like it was nothing. Most weekends in our family were planned around what game was on and what food we were making. His favorite sports memory was watching the Cubs finally win the World Series. He loved the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Hawkeyes, loved movies and music, especially the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he enjoyed getting out to fish when he could.
What people will remember most is his smile and that magnetic personality that drew people in. He was funny, warm, quick with a one-liner, and had a way of making ordinary moments feel like stories worth keeping. Our hearts are broken, but we are so grateful we got Jake. His life was way too short, but it was full and it was loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th from 1-5 p.m. at Hillgrove Tap, 9501 W 171st St Suite R, Tinley Park, IL. We will be celebrating Jake his way!
