Jacob Turner Harrison, age 19, of Amory entered his heavenly home on March 8, 2026. Born on August 1, 2006 in Nashville, TN, Jake was the son of Brian and Kelly Harrison. When Jake came home from the hospital, his brother Luke at 23 months old, opened the door and said with a huge smile, “Jake, come on in!” Then the adventure began!
One of the things that will be remembered most about Jake, especially during his younger years, is his ability to make people laugh. This wonderful trait created many beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. The funny stories are endless and offer great comfort to his family and friends.
Basketball was one of his greatest passions. He and his brother shared many great memories of the sport which began with their first basketball goal at the family’s cabin in Fulton, MS. That is where all the cool trick shots began! The brothers continued to play ball together in school at Amory Christian Academy. Jake loved all his teammates and his coaches. His determination and dedication to the game inspired many. Through the years, he earned many awards, and he also received college offers. Life doesn’t always work out like we think it should, but God has a reason for everything. Regarding his love for basketball, I believe that one thing that you could say about Jake is that he left it all on the court with each game. It was definitely a sight to see!
Jake’s other hobbies included fishing, video games, pickleball, guitar, and hanging out with his friends and cousins. He also had so much fun riding the 4 wheeler at Mamaw and David’s and going to eat Mexican food with his Nana. Before his Papaw’s passing, they loved spending time together playing stack the states on Papaw’s phone. We will treasure those memories forever.
We are so thankful for the many wonderful years God allowed us to spend with him, although he left this earth sooner than anyone would have liked. We have comfort knowing that Jake made a profession of faith and was baptized. Although God’s children can stray from the path at times, God’s grace and mercy truly are amazing. Jake’s spirit, energy, determination, and love will be missed deeply.
Jake is survived by his parents, his big brother, grandparents Dean Fondren (David) and Kaye Harrison, aunts and uncles Lindsay Tate (Kyle), Amy Bolton (Rod), and Shane Turner (Farrah), along with many wonderful cousins, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his Papaws, Luther “Coco” Harrison, Pat Turner, and his precious cousin Caroline Bolton.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at New Life Church in Amory, MS. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00, and the funeral will begin at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to our friend’s ministry called “A Way Out Ministry” in Jake’s memory. Checks can be mailed to 117 Kellum Dr. Saltillo, MS 38866.
