James Daniel Gray, 72, passed away at his residence in Amory on Sunday, March 8, 2026 after a brief illness. He was born in Aberdeen in Amory on March 23, 1953 to the late Leander and Ophelia Cook Gray. James attended Hamilton School and married Beverly Ann Livingston on August 29, 1975. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage and made a lifetime of fond memories. James worked at Tri State Lumber Mill in Fulton. A devoted and faithful Christian, James was a member of Ignite Revival Center in Amory. He was gifted musically and took great joy in sharing the love of Christ through song at churches, nursing homes and with family. Family meant everything to James and he adored his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Beverly Gray, Amory; daughter, Rachel Gray, Amory; sons, Daniel Gray (Melissa), Smithville, Jason Gray (Lacey), Amory and Isaiah Gray (Amanda), Hatley; sister, Barbara Dill (Ricky), Mantachie; brothers, Stewart Gray (Becky), Splunge Community and Donnie Gray, Bigbee; grandchildren, Daniel Gray (Kelsey), Taylor Gray, Emily Keller (Corey), Alyssa Gray, Eli Gray, Caleb Gray, Angel, Katie Maxey (Dewayne), Aaron Morris (Britney), Makayla Pearson (Daniel); 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Brenda and Misty Gray; brother, Stanley Gray.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2025 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Eddie Shelton and Bro. Gregory Malone officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from 1 PM until 2 PM.
