It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacob Andrew Rassi. Jacob was born on March 20, 1979, and passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 46. He was the beloved father of Jacob Jr. (age 12) and Cheyanne (age 10). He is now in the arms of his father and the Lord.
Jacob was born in Sonoma, California, to Andrew Rassi and Barbara Rassi. He graduated from Orme School in Mayer, Arizona, where he discovered his passion for horses through the school's horsemanship program. This love led him to attend farrier school,
where he became a licensed farrier. Jacob had a natural gift for working with animals-especially horses- and was also a talented horse trainer. He had a gentle spirit and an extraordinary connection with animals of all kinds.He loved the challenge of participating in the rodeos. Jacob was a gentle soul whose heart was as big as he was. He was quick-
witted, had a commanding presence, and was a friend to all. In high school, one day while roping
steers, the football coaches happened to see him in action. Impressed by his strength and agility, they encouraged him to join the football team. Though they had to talk him into it, Jacob never took the
game too seriously-he would laugh even when tackled. His teammates once asked his mother when she thought he'd finally "get mad," and she replied, "He probably won't." Jacob simply preferred spending time with his horses and animals over
roughhousing on the field.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Rassi.
Jacob is survived by his children Jacob Jr. and Cheyanne; his mother Barbara Rassi; his brother Jeremy Rassi and sister-in-law Cheryl Rassi; his sister Suzanne Shawver and brother-in-law Ken Shawver; the mother of his children, April Phillips; many aunts, uncles, cousins, the "Yayas," and countless friends.
A celebration of Jacob's life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel located at 2655 Eureka Way, Redding, California 96001 (530) 243-1525. If you wish to make a contribution in Jacob's memory, donations can be sent to:
