Jackie Burke passed away on April 25, 2025, achieving the age of 85 years, 9 months, and 18 days.

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Goglin Funeral Home in Scotland. A grave side service will begin 2:00 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery with Rev. Brian Mosemann officiating.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Jean Burke was born on the family farm July 8, 1939, to Frank and Esther (Reiner) Burke. She began school at a country school and later attended Scotland High School and graduated in 1960.

Jackie was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital for 44 years in the kitchen and lived most of her working years in the Benedictine Center apartments among the nuns. She formed many friendships with the nuns, and they utilized her knitting and crocheting skills for various projects. Jackie would often chauffeur the nuns downtown for shopping trips. While working in Yankton, Jackie would come back to the family farm on weekends. She enjoyed spending time outdoors at the farm with all the animals, especially the cats.

Later in life, she resided at the Menno Care Center before moving back to Scotland to her own apartment with the assistance of Valerie (niece) & Jake Sturges. As her health began to fail, Jackie spent her remaining days at Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home in Scotland.

She is survived by her brother Frank Burke, sister Joan Ritter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother Robert, half-brother Raymond, sister Janet Harper, brother-in-law Gerald Ritter, nephew Jeremy Ritter, sister-in-law Faye Burke, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
