Jacqueline (Jackie) Ferguson (née Turner), 87, entered into her eternal life in heaven on November 3, 2024. Her home going was peaceful with her daughter Debbie by her side.

She was born in Morganton, Georgia on March 29, 1937 to the late Arthur and Ruby Turner. At age 4, Jackie joined her family in a move to Akron. There she attended Fraunfelter School, where she served as Secretary of her 8th grade class, later graduating from Central High School in 1955.

As a wife and a young mother in her mid-2o’s, she made the decision to follow Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her relationship with Christ defined her life from that moment forward! She was active in the East Market Street Church of God, where she enjoyed worshipping in a church that taught the Word of God. She made innumerable friends who became like family during her nearly sixty years as part of this congregation.

Jackie dearly loved her extended family and greatly enjoyed the meals, picnics, holidays and other occasions when they gathered together.

Her organizational bent and attention to detail undergirded her excellent service throughout her working career as a secretary at Goodyear Aerospace, an assistant buyer at the Oneil’s Department Store and as office manager at a private dental practice.

Jackie relocated to the Columbus area in 2020, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law and had the blessing of nearly daily visits with her grandson and his family, whom she loved dearly. During this time, she developed a very special and enduring bond with her great grandson - her “little man.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Glenn, her brothers Bob Turner, Bill Turner, and her sister Betty Monaghan.

She leaves a family that loves her: brother David Turner; daughter Debbie Davis and husband Ken Davis; grandson Daniel Davis and wife Amy Davis; and great grandson Calvin Davis. She is, also, survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends. She is greatly missed by her friends and family, but they are comforted that she knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Special thanks to the East Market Street Church and Pastor Jake Nelson for allowing Jackie’s Celebration of Life to take place at the church and for extraordinary care and hospitality during this time.

Special thanks to the staff of the Avalon of Lewis Center who showed special love to Jackie during the five months they cared for her. Their expressions of love at the time of Jackie’s death have been touching and so meaningful.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until 12:oo p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the East Market Street Church, 2084 East Market Street (on the corner of East Market Street and Hilbish Avenue); entrance off of Hilbish. Funeral service follows at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Newcomer Funeral Home assisting family and friends, and Reverend Jake Nelson, Reverend Rick Fuson and Reverend Don Knipp officiating. Jackie will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park at the conclusion of the funeral service with a dinner to follow.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, an eternal gift may be made via donation to the Jacqueline Ferguson Scholarship Endowment at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary which will provide scholarships for students (P.O. Box 3330, Cleveland, TN 37320; Phone - 423-478-7728). Donations can be made by mail, telephone, or going online to www.ptseminary.edu and going to the “Endowment” button on the donation page.
