Jacqueline Harmon Obituary

Jacqueline Marie Harmon, daughter of Donald Sr and Trecy Miller was born July
7, 1955, in St. Georges, DE. On the morning of Monday December 18, 2023, she
gained her wings.
Jacqueline received her early education in the Middletown, DE, and graduated
from Wilmington High School in 1973. She attended Drexel University where she
studied Fashion Design and then Wilmington College where she obtained her
Associates degree; she later returned back to school and completed her Bachelors.
Over the years Jacqueline held several positions, the old Sear Department store
(Lea Blvd & Market St), Hercules Research Center, MBNA and The News
Journal.
In 1979, Jacqueline married Hezekiah Harmon III and was the proud mother of
three children: Starlandria, Phrydae and Hezekiah IV.
As a child she enjoyed taking road trips with her siblings to visit family 'down the
country' in Middletown and especially to New York to see her cousin Leandra.
Jacqueline was very creative, she enjoyed both knitting and crocheting; she
crocheted blankets for her children and grandchildren, and even crochet clothes
when Phrydae was in high school. She was most known for her love of sewing; she
could hem your pants or make you a whole new pair. There were no limits to what
she could do, if it was curtains or reupholstering furniture, she created something
beautiful in every project she put her hands too. In her teenage years, she was able
to design and create clothing without a pattern. She not only made her own
wedding gown but did the same for other family members as well. Her proudest
work was done for her children, she created Phrydae's prom dress and all the
gowns for the bridesmaids in her wedding.
Jacqueline was also no stranger to the kitchen, her most memorable dishes, were
meatloaf, mac & cheese, liver & onions, stuffed peppers, goulash, beef stew, and
potato salad. There were times when even if she was offered a plate, she would
decline and go cook her own food.
Anyone who knew Jacqueline, knew she loved and nurtured her children and
grandchildren. She made sure her children had a strong faith foundation and even
taught Sunday School herself in her early years. For several years, she also took
care of her niece and nephew, Monica and DJ whom she loved like her very own
and instilled in them the same values.
What many didn't know was that she adopted a fur-baby named Gloria. HT gave
her a beautiful white rabbit for Christmas last year. She was just as protective of
Gloria as she was the rest of her children...maybe even more. She would cut up
fruits and vegetables to make sure she had treats to eat and if Gloria was out
getting exercise, she wasn't content until Gloria was back in the house where she
belonged.
Over the past few years, she most enjoyed family gatherings, crossword puzzles,
going shopping, listening to her girl Shirley Caesar, eating crabs on the weekends,
and taking family trips. Her favorite movie was The Preachers Wife, but she also
liked watching Jeopardy, Family Feud and anything on Channel 6. Recently she
started attending the local Senior Center, in which she also enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald Sr. and Trecy Miller.
Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory, her children Starlandria, Phrydae Todd
(Derrick Sr.) and Hezekiah IV. Grandchildren Lacey Jr and Ineiyriall Evans,
Dajae, Syncere, Derrick Jr. and Pharrah Todd, and Hezekiah Harmon V. Siblings
Donald Miller Jr. (Angela), Cathy, Kenny, Terry, Wayne and Linda Miller and a
host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
