Douglas Allen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services - Nashville on Feb. 2, 2026.
Douglas Allen passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, surrounded by his family in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Allen; his son, Christopher Allen; his granddaughter, Brianna Bates; and his great-grandson, Jeremiah Bates; and many beloved cousins. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Candice Allen.

Douglas was born on October 24th, 1951, in Wilmington, Delaware where he was raised and cared for by Odell Gardner and Ruth Quinn. He graduated from Wilmington High School. Wanting a fresh start in life, he took his family to Los Angeles in 1976 at the age of 24. He went on to dedicate 30 years of service at General Motors as an auto worker until his retirement in 2006. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his strong work ethic and for never missing a day of work.

Douglas will always be remembered as someone you could always depend on for anything. He took pride in showing up for others. He loved traveling, sports and attending jazz and soul concerts. He loved and took great pride in his home and meticulously maintained it, reflecting the pride he carried throughout his life.

Above all, Douglas will be remembered as a devoted provider who deeply loved and cared for his family.

A Graveside Service will be held 12:30 p.m. February 4, 2026, at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221 with David Estes Officiating.
