Jacqueline R. “Jackie” STEADMAN, 92, of Painted Post, NY, formerly of Galeton, PA, died Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Guthrie Corning Hospital.
Born August 20, 1933, in Blossburg, PA, she was the daughter of Robert and Glenora Lockwood Williams. On April 12, 1952, in Galeton, she married Joseph Henry Steadman, who predeceased her on January 19, 2011. A 1951 graduate of Galeton Area High School, where she participated in sports and especially recognized for her basketball skills. She was employed by Rockwell’s Department Store in Corning, office administrator for Dr. Yorio in Corning, and served as Executive Director of the American Red Cross Corning Chapter. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Galeton, Order of the Easter Star, Cowanesque Chapter # 33 in Westfield, and the Ski Patrol Auxiliary at Denton Hill.
Surviving are: a son, Bruce (Nancy) Steadman, Plattsburgh, NY; three grandchildren, Tracey Steadman of Plattsburgh, Joseph (Sarah) Steadman of West End, NC, and Kelley (Sara) Steadman of Palmetto, FL; three great-grandchildren; two siblings, Charles R. “Chuck” Williams of Galeton and Pamela L. Spencer of Troy, PA; nieces and nephews; and partner in life of 12 years, Robert A. Doud. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Williams.
Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church, 19 Germania Street, Galeton on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 3:00 PM. Rev. Fred Garrison will officiate. Burial and committal service will be 10:00 AM, Monday in West Hill Cemetery, Galeton.
