Jacqueline Orr Mines
(October 30, 1933 – March 2, 2022)

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her beloved parents Garland Orr; and May Augusta Austin. She passed away peacefully at the age of 88 with dear friends close by her side.

Her beloved friend and life partner Nand Johari (aka: Krishna Vedant) also preceded her in death. He passed away only 14 months prior. She was so grateful for all the years of his loving companionship. She is deeply missed by her extended Hindi family across the United States and in India and is remembered by them for her laughter, ability to accept everything with a smile and a pure heart filled with love for the whole Johari family.

For those who studied piano with Jacqueline Orr Mines, many years later she is still remembered and missed. She is remembered as a truly remarkable woman who influenced others with her joie de vivre…enjoying life so much and finding happiness in every day. She studied piano as a youth and later with Dorothy Dring Smutz in St. Louis and at The Juilliard School. Her renditions of Chopin and Rachmaninoff were some of her most memorable performances. Jacquie had been a member of the St. Louis Piano Teachers' Round Table when teaching over fifty piano students weekly in Sparta, Illinois.

In 1981 she traveled to India where she took initiation with the enlightened master, Osho. She was given the spiritual name: Sahaj Pragito which means spontaneous song. She is much loved and missed by her Sanga "spiritual family" and remembered for her ability to see beauty in everyday living, her open-minded and kind heart found beauty in diversity and joy in all avenues of worship.

She excelled in service as an administrative assistant at Concordia Publishing, as well as The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis and Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Later, she explored a totally different avenue in life, finding delight in performing arts. Over the last twenty years she and her fellow season ticket holders for the Fox Theater and the St. Louis Symphony shared the crescendo of true friendship and enjoyment of life.

Everything she did was con brio. She had a flair for life in her love of nature, of those around her, her insatiable love of reading, laughter, cooking, travel, water sports, music, drama, art, biography, history, beauty, and knowledge. She was a beautiful person. To those who knew and loved her, Jacquie will forever be with them.

I work at the nursing home Jackie resided at. She was one of my best residents. Losing her was heart breaking. I loved her dearly. She was very intelligent, talented, funny, and extremely kind. She and I would talk on a daily basis. She loved watching the birds in our aviary and LOVED music. She told me she used to be a dancer. And when we had musical entertainment she would be dancing. She loved watching movies with the other residents, playing BINGO, reading, coming to happy hour, going outside and so much more. She was a wonderful woman who I still miss very much. She was always so generous and always tried to help others. Jackie was a dear friend to many at the nursing home. I´m glad I had the chance to know such a great person. At least Jackie is at peace. May Jackie´s memory be a blessing. May she Rest In Peace. I love you Jackie.

I was one of Jacquie's first piano students in Sparta, Illinois and I loved her from the moment we met. She was a person one can never forget.
