Jacqueline Ruth Steder, 80, of New Buffalo, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Franciscan Health Michigan City, Indiana.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, Michigan.
Jacqueline was born on July 28, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Garfield and Ruth (Linton) Hawley.
Jacqueline was a 1961 graduate of New Buffalo High School. On April 22, 1977, she married Robert Steder. She enjoyed reading and watching old time detective movies such as "Perry Mason." Jacqueline was also an avid Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan. She loved spending time with family and attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. Jacqueline was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Robert; her son, Sean (Traci) Steder of La Porte, Indiana; grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah; and a sister, Elvina Wilkey of Berkeley, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Ruth Hawley; a brother, John Hawley; and a sister, Kathy Kirk.
A Mass will be held on Friday, May 10, 1 p.m., at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 718 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, Michigan, with Father Basker Lopez officiating. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 12 to 1 p.m., at the church. Burial follows the service at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo.
