Jailen Michael-George Wilson, 12, of Concord, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Levine Children's Hospital. He had a ruptured aneurysm on September 12, and peacefully passed surrounded by loved ones two days later.
He was born March 3, 2011 in Fort Myers, FL to Darmarcus Wilson Jr. and Juliann Di Benedetto-Wilson. Although, he lived the majority of his life in North Carolina, his Florida roots were strong. He attended Northwest Cabarrus Middle School, and was a member of the Titans football team. He was also a member of the DTE AAU Basketball team.
Jailen had a passion for life and living in the moment. A natural born athlete, he fell in love with sports the moment he picked up a basketball. His talent combined with the time he took to hone his skills made him a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court and football field. He always pushed himself and everyone around him to do and be their best. Jailen took on the role of brother, friend, confidant, and teammate with ease. He had a presence that could calm a room, but fill it with intensity at the same time. He looked like his mama, and wanted to be just like his daddy. He smiled with his whole face. He adored his siblings and family, and always made sure everyone knew just how deeply they were loved. He left a mark on this world in his 12 years that most could only hope to leave. A little boy with dreams to one day suit up in the NCAA D1 and see his parents' faces in the stands.
In addition to his parents, Jailen is survived by his siblings, Isabella, Aidric, Shiloh, and Alina.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on October 27, 2023 at City Club, 325 McGill Ave NW Suite 150, Concord, NC 28027.
In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to Dedicated to Excellence Basketball.
