Jimmy was born December 11, 1948 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Flor Cruz Sanchez and Flora Maria Cruz. He left Puerto Rico after joining the United States Army, where he served during several wars, including Vietnam, where he received several medals. Jimmy retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant Major. Jimmy also retired from the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) out of New Orleans.
Jimmy was preceded in death by Catherine "Cathy" James Cruz (wife), Flor Cruz Sanchez (father), Flora Maria Cruz (mother), Alicia Cruz (Daughter), and Gladys Cruz (sister).
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Delaughter Cruz; his daughter, Maria Cruz Rivers (Ruffas); his brothers, Robert Cruz, William Cruz, and Flor Cruz, Jr.; and his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:00 pm, at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel located at 401 W Canal St, Picayune, MS. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
