Jaime Rivera

Jaime Rivera, 89, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in his home, in Chicago with his family by his side. He was born September 18, 1934 to Felipe and Maria (nee Soto) Rivera in Lares, Puerto Rico.
At the age of 16, Jaime came to the City of Chicago, learned English and held various jobs. Jaime was a dedicated employee of the City of Chicago, Streets and Sanitation Department for 30 plus years. He enjoyed volunteering at church, spending time with his family and helping those in need. He was known for his kindness and his generosity. Anyone who met him always found comfort in his kind words within minutes of meeting him. Not only was Jaime loved by the members of his church where he was a founding member and deacon, he was also love by many neighbors in his community.Jaime would travel weekly to watch his eldest grandson's football games during grammar school and high school football season. Jaime could always be found attending many activities his grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.
He was the devoted husband of Teresa (nee Rivera) Rivera. Loving father of Tony (Brenda) Valentine, Oneida (John Coby) Fehring, Elsie Rivera, and Jaime (Juanita Aguila) Rivera. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Fehring, Tiffany Fehring, Natalie (Ritchie) Aboytes, Jason Rivera, Jada Rivera, Jaelyn Rivera and adored great-grandfather of Isaiah Fehring, Elvia Aboytes, Vincent Aboytes, Viviana Aboytes, Aria Fehring, Harper Fehring, and Remi Fehring. Dearest brother of Aurelio (Bernadina) Rivera, Rose Santiago; Enelida "Nellie" Rivera, and David Rivera, brother-in law Santos Santiago, and fond uncle of countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Felipe and Maria (nee Soto) Rivera, his brothers Ulises Rivera, Efrain Rivera, his sisters Eloina Santiago, and Judith Colon; dear sister-in-law Benita (Merced) Rivera, dear brother-in-laws Antonio Colon and Milton Santiago. Funeral Service for Jaime will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 10:00 A.M. at Casey & Rios Funeral Home 4540 West Diversey Avenue, Chicago, IL 60639. Interment Maryhill in Niles, IL.
