Jake Shulenburg Obituary

Jake Earl Shulenburg, age 34, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home on August 23, 2025.

Jake bravely battled a lifelong blood clotting disorder, and at just 27 years old, he suffered a devastating heart attack and stroke that left him partially paralyzed on his right side. Despite facing limited mobility and cognitive challenges, Jake never lost his spirit. Over the next three and a half years, his life was filled with many ups and downs-and through it all, he demonstrated immense courage, resilience, and determination. Surrounded by love, care, and hope for a brighter future, Jake continued to work toward regaining his independence. Deeply loved, Jake's journey ended far too soon.

Jake was born in Worcester, MA. He spent his early years in Brockton before moving to Carver, where he grew up and attended Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School. After graduating, he earned an associate degree in Auto Mechanics from the New England Institute of Technology.

Though his health prevented him from pursuing a career in the automotive field, Jake's passion for cars never wavered. He spent countless hours working on the vehicles he owned. He worked at Cumberland Farms for a lengthy time and even held a management role there and enjoyed working as a line cook in several local restaurants over the years.

Jake's hobbies included listening to music, playing video games, watching movies, and spending quality time with his friends, loved ones, and beloved pets.

He is survived by his loving mother, Wendy Shulenburg, and is preceded in death by his father, David Shulenburg. He leaves behind his sister Ashlee Vroom, her husband Nicolas Vroom, and their son Hudson Vroom (his cherished nephew); his brother John Shulenburg and his partner Madi Ladd; and his sister Steffanee Shulenburg and her partner Dyvonte Johnson. Jake is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Redmen Hall, 745 Main St., Wareham. The family warmly welcomes all who knew and loved Jake to attend and share stories, memories, and togetherness in his honor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Foundation in Jake's memory.
