Barbara Shulenburg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2018.
Barbara L (Armstrong) Shulenburg, born on September 9, 1945 in Rochester, New York, Monroe, passed away on July 27, 2018 in Rochester. After her lionhearted fight with Lung Cancer in 2014 which she won, in late 2017 a different type of Lung cancer in which she gallantly fought but finally succumbed, she passed away at home surrounded by family. Barbara was known as the cool mom and even cooler grandma. Everyone called her Mom. She was a great listener, as long as you were standing on her left side. She loved movies, driving and worshiped her van. Barbara loved her animals, especially the ones someone left in a box on the hood of her car, Honey it happened again . Barbara suffered from a life long illness known as CRS, but if you gave her time it would come to her... even if it was at 1:30 in the morning. She was a Jack of all trades, could utilize any space, a good cook and great baker, loved them Xmas cookies and the stupendous chocolate chip cookies. When she baked she loved her tunes. Actually she loved her tunes at any time, especially Elvis! Barbara was the one to vent to, shoulder to cry on and laugh with. She was the milk to our cookies. She had a smile that could light up a room. Barbara was truly loved and will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years John H Shulenburg sr. Her spirit is carried by her 6 children: Joyce, James (Robin), Brian, John jr., Daniel, Bambi (Edward). She raised her grandson Mathew and helped raise another grandson Jeremy. 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 15 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Family will be honoring her wishes not to have a funeral or burial. Cremation will take place at the family's convenience and her ashes will be kept around the house as long as it matches the decor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society. There will be a memorial on August 12th, event will be posted via Facebook soon.

Aunt Barb you will truly be missed. I have fond memories of you as I was growing up. Reading the obituary, I can say, you were certainly all of those things, especially a pet lover. I will miss you and though time and distance separated us for a while you never missed an opportunity to make sure we spoke or you came by for a visit. Thank you for everything and all the lifes lessons you taught me. May you rest easy now. Love ya.
