Jakia Tyler Dye, 30, of Riverside, Ohio, left this life on April 15, 2024. After a long battle with his mental health, depression and alcoholism, his pain became unbearable. After failed attempts at seeking help, he saw suicide as his only option. Jakia is preceded in death by his grandfather, David Padgett, and his great-grandparents, Wilma and Michael Williams. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters who were his reason for staying as long as he could, Zaniyah Lee Dye, and Zoella Jane Dye. He is also survived by his loving mother, Amanda Padgett, his step-father and best friend, Lawrence Beard, his siblings who he meant everything to, Tristan Beard, Lawson Beard, and Kyra Beard, his grandmother, Debra Padgett, uncles Michael Coulter, Jonathan Hoban and Christopher Hoban, cousins Cameron, Hayden, Layla, Luca, and Cristian, Godmother Tyra Patterson, Special Aunt, Shawnalita, many more friends and family who adored him, the mother of his children, Patricia Seebach, the entire Dye family and his cherished cat, Rocky. Jakia proudly served his country as a Specialist in the United States Army for 4 years. He was Airborne and attached to the JFK Special Warfare Center and School as an 88M at Fort Liberty (Bragg), N.C.
Let there be no whispering, no secrets here. Our hearts are broken. Jakia took his own life. And even though it might appear that he died by his own hand, no one does this without terrible pain and inner suffering that seems to have no end. Source of compassion, help us to cry out loud, to hold each other gently, to live with unanswerable questions, with these feelings of anger and guilt, with this gaping loss. Help us to reach out to others who are suffering, to show them our love, to say the kind word. The sun sets and rises. We put one foot in front of the other. We hold our hearts in our hands. God of eternal peace, help us live each day.
The last words that he left behind for us all were, "I NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE, I JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO BE"
