Jalen Eriq McMillan, 24, passed away on February 25, 2026. He was born on February 28, 2001. He lived a life that exemplified the virtues of hard work, passion, and joy, traits that he imparted to everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Jalen graduated from Hickory Ridge High School, where he shone brightly on the field as a dedicated athlete. From the age of three, he embraced soccer with unyielding enthusiasm, eventually becoming team captain during his senior year. His dedication and skill earned him a place on the all-conference team, marking him as a standout player. He also took part in football during his junior and senior years, showcasing his versatility and competitiveness.
A vibrant personality, Jalen was always smiling and had an infectious laugh that endeared him to friends and family alike. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and his spirit was one that radiated warmth and kindness. He had a genuine passion for music, having taught himself to play the guitar, which was a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge.
Jalen cherished his family dearly. He leaves behind his father, Sterling Anthony McMillan, and his mother, Tamara Sue Hardiman McMillan. He is also survived by his siblings, Tyler Blaze McMillan and Kelsey Liniev McMillan, as well as his cherished grandparents: Sherwood McMillan, Iris McMillan, Ted Hardiman, and Marilyn Hardiman. His extended family and friends will deeply miss his presence, which brought light into their lives.
A memorial gathering in honor of Jalen will be held on March 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Venture Church in Harrisburg, NC. This gathering will give family, friends, and community members the opportunity to celebrate Jalen's remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on everyone he encountered.
Jalen Eriq McMillan will always be remembered for the love he shared, the hard work he embodied, and the joyful spirit he brought into the world. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
