Jamaine Gregory Dailey was a devoted son, brother, father, husband, and friend. He entered this life on May 23, 1978, to proud parents Hilda Joyner Dailey and Cameron Gregory Dailey Sr.
He spent his childhood in
Petersburg, Virginia, where he attended Walnut Hill Elementary, Peabody Middle School, and Petersburg High School. After graduation, he attended Richard Bland College before continuing his education at Old Dominion University in Hampton Roads, where he majored in Communications. It was there that Jamaine built lifelong friendships-friends who became family-and met the love of his life, Ebony Perry, whom he married on November 11, 2011.
From the onset, they were a joyous family, complete with daughter Courtney Perry, who lovingly called him "Bay Bay." In time, sons Jamaine Jr. (JJ) and Jaxon were born and completed their family unit. His children were his heart. They were his pride, his joy, and one of his greatest accomplishments.
Following graduation from Old Dominion University, Jamaine went on to work with GEICO, where he served in a variety of roles and departments for 21 years.
To know Jamaine was to understand that there was never a quiet room once he entered. He was a natural entertainer, gifted with razor-sharp wit, effortless humor, and a personality that drew people in. He could light up any room-whether through a perfectly timed joke, a hilarious one-liner, or a facial expression that echoed his sentiments. He also had some hidden talents, including freestyle rapping and singing in his surprise baritone voice. In his free time, Jamaine loved spending time with his family, hanging out with his boys, and during the fall, eating chicken wings and rooting for America's Team-the Cowboys!
Although comical, Jamaine loved deeply and protected fiercely. His family was his foundation, and his friends knew they could depend on him. He was a man of loyalty, heart, and quiet strength. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ebony; children, Jamaine Jr., Jaxon, and Courtney; parents, Cameron and Hilda Dailey; sister, Tamara Mitchell (Princeton); brothers, Cameron Dailey Jr. (Carla) and Michael Mason (Maria); grandmother, Marie Dailey; uncles, Joseph Dailey Jr., Maurice Joyner, and Sherwood Eure; aunts, Rita Simpson and Bennie Marshall; nieces, Alia Dailey and Zoey Mitchell; fathers- and mothers-in-law, Bobby and Cynthia Davis and Anthony and Pamela Steward; and a host of relatives and friends.
Jamaine transitioned from this earthly life on February 5, 2026, following a brief illness. Though his time here feels far too short, his legacy remains strong-in the laughter he gave, in the love he poured into his family, and most visibly in the lives of his children.
As Proverbs 20:7 reminds us: "The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him."
Jamaine walked in integrity. And his children-his greatest blessing-are the living proof of his legacy. May his laugh never be forgotten. May his good deeds always be remembered. And may his memory be cherished by all who loved him.
