He was the beloved husband for over 65 years of Christine Salata Abraham, and the loving father of James Joseph Abraham, Kimberly (Dennis) Daniels, and Melissa (Joseph) Merfeld. James was a proud and loving grandfather of seven and a great-grandfather of three. He is also survived by his brother Vincent (Patricia) Abraham, and many extended family members and friends who brought joy to his life.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pauline Abraham (nee Saleilca), and his brothers Gary and Thomas Abraham.
For 35 years, James was a dedicated employee of Cuyahoga County. A proud veteran, he served honorably in both the U.S. Navy and the National Guard, and was a member of the American Legion.
James had a quiet passion for life's simple joys. He loved spending time with his family, sharing stories and laughter, and he had a unique fondness for treasure hunting at thrift stores-always on the lookout for a hidden gem or a good deal. His warmth, wit, and humility touched everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered for his love of family, strong faith, generous heart, and the gentle way he made others feel seen and appreciated.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, St. Maron Church, 1245 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in James' memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Maron Church, causes close to his heart.

James David Abraham, of Pine Island, Florida and Moreland Hills, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 2, 1937, James lived a full life marked by devotion to his family, and a generous spirit.
