James Anthony Akins, better known as "Andy" was born on February 22, 1960 in Dallas, Georgia to James Akins and Rebecca Roberts Kinnebrew. As a child he loved hunting, skating and time with his cousins. Andy was educated in the Paulding County and Atlanta Public School Systems and was as he often said "born in the country, raised in the city." He also attended Georgia State University. He was a proud United States Marine and loved to give a loud "Oorah!" He was employed at Lockheed Martin for many years and had a deep love driving trucks and traveling across states.
Andy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age. He truly loved the Lord, sharing his faith and singing his favorite song "Do Lord." He was a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and loved by his church family. Andy never met a stranger! With his charismatic personality and undeniable humor, Andy knew everyone from Dallas to Atlanta.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Akins and Rebecca Roberts Kinnebrew and his sister Maureen Gresham.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Chris Reed; dedicated and devoted sisters, Cassandra Bryant (Robert) and Jeanette Akins; brother, Frank Poole; one granddaughter Royalty Reed; two special aunts,Maxine Smith and Gloria Bolton; two loving uncles, Gary and Jeffrey Vincent and a special friend Lavoyd Pete.
