James Allbery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2022.
James "Jim" Dean Allbery, of Bloomfield Hills, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
Jim was born November 10, 1934, in Haydenville, Ohio to Clyde and Ruth (Backus) Allbery. He was a graduate of Logan High School. In 1955, he married Janice Starr. They moved to Clyde, Ohio, in 1964 and resided there until their move to Bloomfield Hills in early 2021.
Jim was a retiree of the Ford Motor Company. A devoted family man, he worked a second job at Kroger for years to better provide for his wife and children. He was a voracious reader and an avid baseball fan who also loved fishing, mushroom hunting, and vegetable gardening. After retirement, Jim and Janice traveled widely, including a trip to New Zealand and cruises in Alaska and the Caribbean. In his later years he bravely fought Parkinson's disease, never losing his wonderful and gentle sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his children, Debra (Matthew) Allbery Gildea of Asheville, NC, James (Melanie) Allbery, Jr. of Farmington Hills, MI, and Lori (Aaron) Pruitt of Big Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Robert Grayson, Alex Grayson, James Allbery III, Hannah Allbery, Michael Wyatt Gildea, and Briggs Pruitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim's death came just 29 days after Janice's. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Grayson; and siblings, John "Jack" Allbery, Clyde "Shorty" Allbery, Jr., Betty Wescott, JoAnne Fuller, William "Bill" Allbery and Max "Butch" Allbery.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio. The family welcomes all to attend, with the doors opening at 10:30 am, an hour prior to the service.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation at parkinson.org.
