Janice Allbery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home on Nov. 16, 2022.
Janice Darlene Allbery, of West Bloomfield, MI, passed away Monday, November 7th, 2022.
Janice was born April 13, 1937, to Willard Emerson Starr and Florence Elizabeth (Spires) Starr. She was a graduate from New Straitsville High School. In 1955 she married James ("Jim") Allbery. They moved to Clyde, Ohio, in 1964 and resided there until their move to West Bloomfield in early 2021.
A lifelong homemaker, Janice always put her family first. Having battled and survived Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and breast cancer, she realized her dream of seeing the world, traveling with Jim to New Zealand and taking cruises in Alaska and the Caribbean. At home, she delighted in gardening, creating flower beds that graced their Buckeye and Mulberry Street neighborhoods. Most of all she loved family gatherings with her children and grandchildren, especially at Christmas, when the house would be decked inside and out for the holiday and filled with the scents of the feast she had prepared.
Janice is survived by her husband; siblings, Leo (Renee) Starr of Columbus and Patty (Gerald) Dickerson of Logan; sister-in-law, Connie Starr; children, Debra (Matthew) Allbery Gildea of Asheville, NC, James (Melanie) Allbery, Jr. of Farmington Hills, MI, and Lori (Aaron) Pruitt of Big Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Robert Grayson, Alex Grayson, James Allbery III, Hannah Allbery, Michael Wyatt Gildea, and Briggs Pruitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Grayson; and siblings, Eddie Starr, Betty Hamilton, and Kenneth Starr.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio with rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio. The family welcomes all to attend, with the doors opening at 10:30 am, an hour prior to the service.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www.komen.org.
