James Lee Allen, age 97, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, November 17th, 2022 at NHC Oakwood.
He was a native of the Archer Community in Marshall County, the son of the late Ernest and Ella Lane Allen. He retired as Postmaster for 9 years and a total of 32 years with the Postal Service. In addition to being a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he served his country in the Navy, specifically the South Pacific during WWII, aboard the SS James Oliver and the USS CVE Lunge Point, in the Phillippines, and Guam. He served on the selective service board for 20 yrs., Volunteer Gas Board for years, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, VFW, NAPUS, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McCord Allen, two brothers, Lane Allen Sr., and Thomas H. Allen, and two sisters, Hilda Adgent Nash, and Josie Mai Flye.
He is survived by two sons, Mike (Ann) Allen of Nashville, and Steve (Pam) Allen of Lewisburg, sister, Hazel Hodges of Millington, TN, grandchildren, Emily Allen, Andrew (Jenn) Allen, and Megan (Daniel) Townes, and two great grandchildren, Holland Townes and James Allen.
There will be a private family memorial service following cremation at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
London Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
