Mr. James David Allred, 87, of Burlington passed away at White Oak Manor on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
A native of
Burlington, NC, he was the husband of almost 66 years to Nell Hook Allred, who survives and the son of Everett Allred and Daisy Farmer Allred, both deceased.
Mr. Allred served in the US Army based at Ft. Stewart, GA from 1958-1960 and the National Guard an additional six years. While at Ft. Stewart he met Nell Hook, the love of his life, July 19 they would have been married 66 years.
David started his career in the Service industry. He was a service manager at many dealerships in Burlington. Cadillac on Main, Alamance motors and ED Love's Chevrolet until 1982 and went in business with his wife at Miss Nell's school. There they had a after school program for about 20 years. He was called Mr. David and was a father figure to many. He was loved by many for the care and values he showed to everyone.
David was a loving, kind, generous and loyal family man a devoted husband. He was extremely funny and sharp witted and loved practical jokes. He had an infectious laugh and personality that radiated love. He loved cars, auto racing and the Carolina Tarheels.
Survivors other than his wife, Nell include a son, James David Allred, Jr.; daughter, Amy Allred Hester and husband Dr. Mark Hester; grandchildren, Madeleine Campe and husband Lawson and Ainsley Byrd; nephew, Keith Allred and wife Karoleigh; niece, Caroline Parker and husband Kevin.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Don Allred and his wife Carolyn.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Allred's family would like to thank the VA of Durham for the excellent care for so many years. They would also like to thank Authora Care Hospice who has helped him with daily visits and care with a Special thanks to his care givers, Chaplain Carolyn Burrows, Nurse Erin Riley, Scott Janessen and Debra Buyer. They would also like to acknowledge White Oak Manor of Burlington, their staff are amazing for the care they showed everyday and helped him so much. He enjoyed everyone and was so grateful for them. His care givers were Amy Allen, Buffy Johnson, Crystal Dunn, Briana Daye, Betty Harris, Red Baron, and Lakeisha Pinnix.
