Dover-Foxcroft - Our community sadly lost a pillar on December 2, 2023, when James Anderson, 85, favorably known as Jim, passed away from natural causes. He was born September 23, 1938, and grew up in Dover-Foxcroft, where he remained for his whole life. He served his country in 1957 for 6 months of active duty, and settled down back in his hometown. His contributions to the lives of many included his work at Shop n' Save, formerly Judkins, where he proudly worked for 40 years in many departments. Jim was a true man of nature and loved wildlife, ice skating and the woods.
Jim is survived by the wonderful community of Dover-Foxcroft and his loving wife of 29 years, Mrs. Linda Anderson, his son Scott Anderson and wife Sheva of Dover-Foxcroft, and four daughters, Pamela Daggett and husband Larry of Guilford, Barbara Engstrom and husband Terry of Lamoine, Valerie Greenier and husband Paul of Glenburn, and Marnie Knight and husband Peter of Dover-Foxcroft. Jim is also survived by by several loving grandchildren and great grandchildren: Amber Anderson of Dover-Foxcroft and special friend Jared Sargent, Rebecca Anderson of Dover-Foxcroft, Jenna Anderson of Dover-Foxcroft, Casandra Beals and husband Eric of DeQuincy, Louisiana and their son Lincoln, Kevin Daggett and Amy of Abbot and their children Madi and Hudson, Katlyn Engstrom and Josh of Dover-Foxcroft, Miranda Engstrom of Lamoine, Zachary Greenier and wife Jennifer of Hampden and their children Addison and Emma, Stephanie White and husband Ryan of Hampden and their children Kason and Abrey, Heather Wilder and special friend Scott Jordan of Dover-Foxcroft, cousins, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joan, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Dora Anderson, one sister, Constance Wright and her husband Cal, and several special relatives and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds in all those he interacted with. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's name to Piscataquis Regional Food Center, 76 North Street Dover Foxcroft. Special thanks to Community Health and Counseling, special nurses Ellise, Genitiva Hospice, Breeana, Danielle, and Amber. He "had a good ride."
Family and friends are invited to call from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 6. 2023, at the Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft. A celebration of life will take place after the service and will be announced. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
